Powering The Lost Village Festival

Lost Village Logo

Flow Power Solutions were appointed as the principle, site-wide temporary power and distribution supplier for the Lost Village festival in Lincolnshire.

Lost Village is set in rural wooded land, hidden from the outside world. This festival feels like no other. An eclectic mix of themed areas and stages with an impressive, premium food, beverage and luxury camping offer.

Our team worked with the festival to re-engineer the power solution for the event. They developed new ways to optimise energy performance and improve sustainability. A new layout was implemented which moved generators to new locations to provide efficiency, reducing the overall number of generators required from previous years.

Engineering Expertise at Lost Village Festival

Our in-house engineering expertise enabled us to rationalise the generator requirements to further improve efficiency. This was achieved by using smaller generators to start the build and as loads increased we seamlessly migrated to larger machines. To further reduce fuel usage we also used load in demand systems.

Finally, we positioned generators out of sight to improve the site aesthetics and production value. As part of this, we used the natural landscape to run cables safely across the festival site.

33 StageV generators were provided to power the site, ranging in size between 20kva up to  200kva. Each generator was fuelled with HVO to improve sustainability.  We used state-of-the-art, seamless fuel monitoring and onsite management to deliver fuel to where its required, giving the client uninterrupted and sustainable temporary event power.

Distributing the power across the site was challenging due to the wooded setting. The installation required high level and ground level cabling to all corners of the festival site, trader compounds and camping areas.  Including the temporary power provision for over 800 luxury “glamping” pods and pre-erected tents.

Lost Village Festival IN Numbers

  • 250 distribution boards
  • 11km Festoon lighting
  • 25km of cabling (including 125A 3ph/ 63A 3ph / 32A 3ph / 32A 1ph / 16A 1ph)

A team of ten were on site for a period of up to 4 weeks, This time onsite covered the build and show days also the de-commissioning of the festival. A central power office was established on site to enable the festival management team and vendors to drop in and discuss any bespoke requirements. To provide a responsive service during the festival, a team of engineers remained on-site to assist with any requests and to monitor system performance.

In addition, Flow also provided 11km of festoon lighting across the site to light pathways and enhance the atmosphere of the festival.
